I am committed to environmental sustainability and social responsibility through various initiatives.

Waste reduction

  • Procurement of foodstuffs in bulk: Residents are educated about the importance of reducing waste and are encouraged to procure foodstuffs and hygiene items in large packages or in bulk.
  • Separation of waste: In the absence of an organized system of separate waste collection on the island, we take responsibility for the separation and removal to Komiž.
  • Responsible waste disposal and reuse: We separate and burn paper, we compost bio-waste, we take the food we have left to our cats, and we return the returnable packaging to Komiža. We reuse plastic containers and cans for seedlings or storage.
  • Ecologically acceptable products: We use eco-certified devices and biodegradable cleaning agents.
  • Household devices that save energy: We use devices with higher energy efficiency that have lower energy consumption.

Environmental cleaning

  • Regular beach clean-ups: After storms, we visit Porat beach and remove waste brought by the sea.
  • Maintenance of hiking trails and overgrown paths.
  • Cleaning up neglected trash in forests: During walks around the island, we collect carelessly discarded waste.

Garden maintenance and planting plants

  • Planting and watering: We plant a variety of plants and trees in the garden, which contributes to preserving the environment and creating a pleasant space for future generations.
  • Digging the garden: by weeding, we can prevent the plants we plant from taking away nutrients and water.
  • Terracing and building new dry stone walls for planting olive trees.
  • Picking wild plants.
  • Cultivating local, indigenous plants.

Caring for the local community

  • Education on sustainable development: in collaboration with the Biševo association, I organize workshops and educational programs for young people in the local community, with an emphasis on the global goals of sustainable development, encouraging critical thinking and personal responsibility.
  • Conservation of biological diversity: By conscientiously defining goals and carefully implementing projects, I support the preservation of the biodiversity of the island of Biševo, opposing the negative impacts of mass tourism.
  • Preservation of traditional knowledge and skills: I strive to document endangered intangible cultural heritage whose continuity of transmission from generation to generation has been interrupted.
