Pomegranate is the juicy treat nature serves us in autumn.
What a magnificent fruit!
Whoever dreamed up all the strange varieties of fruit on this planet deserves applause. This is one of the finest combinations of flavour, crunch, and juice… Pomegranate is known as one of the world’s healthiest fruits, packed with antioxidants and an absurd range of vitamins and minerals. The list was so long I gave up reading it.
Pomegranate season therefore deserves its own little documentary tribute.

An old, productive pomegranate tree grows in our garden. It is lovely to look at, asks for very little, and bears abundantly every year. The branches are thorny, so we take care when passing and when picking the fruit.

Cleaning a pomegranate is a bit tedious, but also meditative.
This year we had extra motivation to clean loads of them because we bought a new cold-press juicer — an anniversary gift from my love. We kept making this special juice, a full vitamin bomb, and absolutely everybody loved it. First that PINK colour, then the smell and taste, then the colour all over again. Ah…
At the very first sip, I can feel my serotonin heading upward.
All I can say is a humble thank you, with cheeks to match the fruit.
