Last on the Shore, Last in the Sea

16.10.2025.

This is part two of the journal entry Last on the Shore, First in the Sea. We are far south, so naturally the swimming season stretches on. Once everybody goes home, we remain, nearly alone in the bay now and certainly alone on the beach. In the middle of a beautiful, calm, sunny day, what else are we going to do but “go to the sea”?
It does not even matter whether we swim in the classic sense. We can simply strip off and sunbathe, build sandcastles, and sail boats through the shallows.

Does a swimmer not have the right to decide how deep to enter the sea and still call it swimming? Is there a rule for how much of your body must get wet before you can claim you “had a swim”? I count all of it. Dipping only your little feet is a complete experience. :)
Nikola has no trouble with these concepts. He is naked on the beach, splashing and spraying for a while, then playing in the sand, fully in his element.
