Pruga is the boat that runs from Komiža to Biševo and back. It is our lifeline to the island of Vis. We arrive on it, leave on it, and receive pretty much everything we need on it. A parcel was coming in, so at 9:15 sharp we planted ourselves on the little pier in Porat Bay to meet Pruga and collect it.
Sometimes the wait is longer, sometimes shorter; it depends on the crowds and what is being unloaded in the bays before ours. We wait, potter around the tiny pier, skim pebbles into the sea, watch the fish, and then, out of nowhere, we hear brrrr. The engine grows louder. Pruga comes closer until she finally peeks around the headland. She docks, the ropes go on, and our waiting is over.
