Our real summer refreshment arrives with the water carrier, the huge ship that brings water and pumps it through hoses into the cisterns of everyone who placed an order. This summer was rainy, so we never reached the final drop, though for quite a while I have been washing clothes on the 25-litre programme. Yes, these are the things we think about out here…
From today we can return to using water much more freely, back to that winter mindset, because the carrier delivered 29,000 litres. The mayor came over with the ship. What town gives you that? A mayor willing to get his hands dirty, help the crew, and see the real problems and needs of his fellow citizens.
The water carrier is a remarkable ship, definitely one of the larger vessels to squeeze into our narrow bay. We photographed her from every angle.
Naturally, we photographed the filling too, which was actually rather quick and elegant.
